In 2019, Lekker Chócó Treats was founded after my passion was reignited by my best friend Courtney.
Hi, my name is Nakija Mills and I am the founder of Lekker Chócó Treats. I’m a single mother of two wonderful boys, Bryan and Braylon. I am originally from the beautiful island of Dominica, and grew up in the Netherlands before I moved to the US in late 2007.
I started dipping strawberries in 2011 as a decoration for my cupcakes. Over the years, my passion grew and so did my craft.
In 2015, the sudden loss of my children’s grandmother, caused a halt. I did not bake or decorate fruits any longer.
In June 2019, my dear friend Courtney approached me, wondering if I could dip strawberries for an upcoming prom event. Wanting to say no, I said yes!
Knowing that her party was going to be over the top, showstopper, I could not give her a platter with just strawberries.
So, 5 am the next morning I woke up and began surfing the web for ideas. That’s when I decided to make her a gold and white strawberries tower. With the tremendous feedback I received from the event, and the fun I had creating the tower, I decided to start my own company, Lekker Chócó Treats. The word Lekker is Dutch and African, translates to delicious and Chócó- means chocolate!
Lekker Chócó Treats is based in Farmington, Michigan. I make elegant strawberry towers and beautiful edible bouquets decorated with fresh flowers.
Every bouquet, tower or Chócó Experience is about spreading love and happiness.
